Atlas Maior – Keyif

1) Bête Noire 5:51
2) Cynthia’s Tears 4:16
3) Raqs Laylah 7:00

Keyif, a Turkish concept that translates roughly as enchantment, delight, and conviviality, traces Atlas Maior’s approach to music and life.  Keyif demonstrates the group’s maturing sonic identity by featuring original material, while also exploring their multidimensional musical influences.

World Beat Canada – Atlas Maior discusses EP Keyif (30 min mark)
https://www.mixcloud.com/Calcopyrite/worldbeatcanada-radio-november-7-2015/

Cal Koat of World Beat Canada on Atlas Maior’s Keyif EP :
Hauntingly stark & beautiful: recorded at Austin’s Bell Tree Studios, Keyif represents 3 years of Atlas Maior’s compositional ideas and travels from members Charlie Lockwood (oud), Joshua Thomson (alto saxophone, flutes), Ted Camat (percussion) and contributing bass player Gary James. Brazil, Turkey and Spain and the Canary Islands provide sonic touchstones for the Keyif EP. Altas Maior was the first world atlas made in 17th century Amsterdam.” — Comments via Pinterest.

We’re excited to be performing at this fine Migrations event with darbuka master Raquy this upcoming March. We’re very happy to have her in town. Atlas Maior met Raquy Danziger back during our tour of Istanbul, in late 2013. This will be a reunion of sorts as we will be her backing band. Atlas Maior will be performing a set of our material as well. #Raquy
